Workshop Lead Technician

We are looking for a hands-on Technical Support Lead to carry out day-to-day technical and workshop tasks. You will be responsible for repairing machines, preparing machines for site, supporting the Workshop and Field Service Team , and creating clear SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures). This is a practical role that also involves sharing knowledge, ensuring high standards, and helping to keep the workshop and field service Activities running smoothly.

 

Main Responsibilities:

Technical Support & Repairs:

  • Diagnose and repair a range of machines and equipment.
  • Handle escalated or more complex technical faults.
  • Log all repairs, parts used, and faults found accurately.
  • Provide technical support and advice to others when needed.

 

Workshop Responsibilities:

  • Carry out machine preparation tasks, including cleaning, testing, setting up, and ensuring machines are ready for delivery or installation.
  • Keep workshop tools, test equipment, and parts organised and in good working condition.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient workshop environment.
  • Help monitor and report stock levels for parts and supplies.

 

SOPs & Procedures:

  • Write and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for repairs, maintenance, and machine preparation.
  • Follow procedures closely and ensure others do the same.
  • Support the training of team members on safe and efficient working methods.

 

Team Support & Communication:

  • ·Work closely with other team members to complete daily tasks.
  • Share technical knowledge and support others when needed.
  • Communicate clearly with other departments to ensure machines are ready on time.
  • Provide regular updates on progress and raise any issues as they arise.

 

Skills & Experience ~Required:

  • Strong hands-on experience with machine repairs and preparation (e.g. vending, electro-mechanical, or similar equipment).
  • Experience in a lead technician role.
  • Good understanding of workshop safety and procedures.
  • Able to create and follow technical processes and documentation.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management.
  • Basic computer skills for logging work and updating SOPs.
  • Equivalent or higher than Level 3 Engineering Diploma – Advanced Electronics qualification
